About me

SandyProfile

Hi! My name is Sandy Verhoeve. I’m a Dutch multimedia journalist and founder of the new online platform feelgoodexplorer, a guide for everyone who wants to join me in my personal journey to find joy, beauty and happiness in life.

I spent four years in Vienna, Austria, until autumn 2017. I came back to my hometown Leiden in the Netherlands for a couple of months and since September 2018 I live in Washington DC, also the primary location from where I will keep you posted as feelgoodexplorer.

I work as a freelance videographer, photographerwriter and editor, producing stories for multiple clients, like Zoomin TV (Europe’s number one multi-channel network), Netherlands Red Cross (the world’s largest humanitarian organization) and the biggest Dutch daily newspaper AD). On my company website  SAVE MEDIA CONTENT you’ll find out more about my work.

I spent the largest part of my working career at the Dutch national broadcaster NOS, where I worked from 1999 to 2014 as a senior editor at the Foreign Desk for internet and television, writing and editing texts and producing news videos.

In Vienna I took photography classes for a year at the FotoSchule Wien. I also took courses in camera, sound, light, cutting, scriptwriting and directing at the Filmschule Wien. I made the short movie Äffchen (Little Monkey), which was screened at Urania Kino during the Dutch Film Days Vienna festival. My second short film Pilot was finished in April 2018 and screened in a cinema in Leiden.

I studied Spanish Language and Literature and International Relations at Utrecht University in the Netherlands. I speak English, German, SpanishDutch and some French.

I love skiing and hiking. My husband and I own a great little apartment in Austria, in the charming village of Gröbming in the Schladming-Dachstein ski and golf area. We call it Haus FÖN, which stands for Freundschaft Österreich Niederlande (Friendship Austria Netherlands). This place is an absolute gem in summer and in winter and you can check that out by yourself, because our wonderful Haus FÖN is for rent.
